What is Creative Journaling?

Creative Journaling is a powerful way to connect visually to our thoughts, experiences and emotions. Words and images can act as visual prompts reminding us of things we have seen, read or heard. Our journals can be useful places to record these insights and reflections using a wide range of materials such as collage, paint, inks, photos, textiles, stitching, writing and drawing. It is a way of documenting and expressing what intrigues and inspires us, a safe place to be curious and connect to ourselves in a creative way.

Therapeutic benefits of Creative Journaling

Creative Journaling is a powerful tool for self-discovery and inner healing. It gives us permission to be our authentic selves. By submerging ourselves in the wonder of our imagination, we can release any built up stress. Allowing us to express our thoughts and feelings can then help promote wellbeing and better sleep patterns. It encourages us to put aside a daily self-care routine.  By connecting to ourselves regularly, we are more able to understand what is going on for us on a day to day basis and can perhaps see things from a different perspective. Journaling has been proven to help strengthen and support the immune system and encourages us to practice gratitude.

You don't have to be an artist

We are all artists, but for some, creativity may have been buried somewhere deep inside us. It may have been a negative comment from a teacher, a parent or someone in school which has shut us off from our own creativity. We may have experienced a creative block which needs to be overcome. Whatever it is that you feel is stifling your creativity you have the power to reach it again, it is there inside you, it's just waiting for permission to be seen again. Creative Journaling can help you reach it.
